Buy 2 and choose USPS FR Box and the shipping on the second set is free. If you do take this option there is no room to add extra padding. Due to this in some cases the dividers between the balls get broken in transit. Not a problem as they are not really needed and if broken we don't accept claims to replace them.
The 6 boule set is for 2 players.
(Note: In competitive play, 3 boules are used when playing in teams of 2).

I bought two sets of these years ago and I still use them to this day. Great product.

7/20/10 Steve. I bought two sets (1 & 2 and 3 & 4 patterns) of these boules in the spring of 2010 and I have used them numerous times this year. I am very happy with them. However the plastic dividers of both cases were destroyed in the shipping process and one of the zippers on one of the nylon cases was smashed also, fortunately each case has two zippers. But to repeat the boules themselves are great. "" Editorial Note: I thought that I would send this note along that is on the product page above right under the product images.. "Buy 2 and choose USPS FR Box and the shipping on the second set is free. If you do take this option there is no room to add extra padding. Due to this in some cases the dividers between the balls get broken in transit. Not a problem as they are not really needed and if broken we don't accept claims to replace them." For one set shipped this is never a problem. And if the customer places two separate orders with separate shipping charges then there is not an issue as we can better cushion the individual sets. Most customers don't want to as they prefer to save the $10.50 extra shipping and have 2 inserted into the USPS Flat Rate Box. ""

11/19/2010 5:45:49 PM We just received two more sets of six boules today and immediately placed them in the hands of a recently committed Petanque fanatic! As always, the shipping was fast, the boules consistent, and the product /shipping costs unbeatable - that's why Play-a-Boule is the official entry-level boule for the Palm Springs Petanque and Tennis Meetup Group (http://www.meetup.com/Tennis-Petanque-Palm-Springs/) and the La Boule du Bono terrain. Please visit our website and come throw with us when you're in the Palm Springs Desert Area. Everyone is welcome! There’s nothing like a cool drink and the satisfying crack of a Carreau, why enjoying a prefect sunset over San Jacinto peak.
